Last week, a group of clients from Ghana paid a visit to Shengda Water Meter Co., Ltd., seeking reliable solutions for their country’s ongoing water metering transformation. As Ghana continues to modernize its water infrastructure, local utilities are looking to replace outdated mechanical meters with advanced smart water meters.

During their factory tour, our guests observed every stage of production—from intelligent circuit board assembly to automated calibration and strict quality inspection. They showed great interest in our ultrasonic and smart prepaid water meters, especially our wireless AMR/AMI solutions, which offer remote reading, leak detection, and consumption analysis.

Ghana’s current reliance on mechanical water meters presents numerous challenges: inaccurate readings, manual labor costs, and water loss due to undetected leaks. The delegation shared real-life stories where residents received either undercharged or overcharged bills, leading to disputes between utilities and end-users. This is where smart water meters become a game-changer.

We demonstrated how our smart meters automatically collect consumption data and transmit it in real time to utility platforms, helping operators bill accurately and reduce non-revenue water. These meters also help households track their usage and develop better water-saving habits.

Our engineers also showcased Shengda’s IoT software platform, which supports both LoRa and NB-IoT communication modes. The Ghanaian team appreciated the flexibility to integrate their existing billing systems with our cloud-based management software.

The visit concluded with a technical Q&A session, followed by discussions on future pilot projects in Ghana’s urban areas. We’re honored by their trust and eager to help their water systems move into a smart era.
